Chemical Purchase Policy

Our policy for selection and purchase of chemicals ensures proper sourcing and management of chemical inputs to ensure that hazardous chemicals are responsibly managed. It aims to address both the evaluation and selection of suppliers and its proper handling and storage after it reaches our premises.

Supplier Evaluation & Selection

Suppliers that can demonstrate through documented evidence that have they have procedures in place for consistent quality of formulation and committed to responsible chemicals manufacturing and management practices.

Suppliers are evaluated on the following basis:

  • The supplier should have an internal quality management system
  • The supplier have a demonstrated environment management system including LWG membership.
  • The supplier should be able to produce ongoing certificates of analysis for each chemical purchase
  • The supplier should comply with REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals) standards.
  • MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet), TDS (Technical Data Sheet) and COA (Certificate of Analysis) is consulted.
  • The supplier will be selected by the compliance team and added to the approved supplier list once all the requirements are found to be fulfilled.

Chemical Selection Policy:
All the chemicals used in the production are selected after thorough analysis and testing to ensure that it renders the required results on the leather produced.

Chemical Received:
The chemicals received are quarantined and samples from batch of chemicals arrived are sent to the laboratory for testing and once the tests are successful, the batch is accepted and move towards storage facility.

Chemical Issuance policy:
Complete data regarding the expiry dates of chemicals in the storage facility is maintained and issued on FIFO basis and if any chemical gets expired, it is disposed according to the set procedures.
