Sustainability

KTM believes in an industrial system that delivers high value to its growing base of customers around the globe by efficient use of resources which requires sustainable manufacturing, supply chain design, sustainability performance measurement and management, and organizational change.

We are moving transformation process where KTM is part of, and actively contributing to, a socially, environmentally and economically sustainable planet.

Energy Saving

Industry is the single largest consumer of water with increasing focus on ways to conserve water. Industries have many opportunities to reuse water within their own plants to minimize their draw on fresh water sources. Equipped with the latest technology, a state-of-the-art waste water treatment plant was completed and got in operation this year which enabled KTM in getting the whole water re-usable in leather reprocessing resulting in saving of 3.6 Million liters of water every day.

Auto dozing system ensures that right quantity of water is fed into the drums and reduces unnecessary wastage.

Energy Saving

We are always working out to the utilization of energy in the most cost effective manner to carry out our manufacturing process, whereby wastage of energy is minimized and the overall consumption of primary energy resources is reduced thus turning leather processing into green technology.

As part of this process we have installed inverters with all our drums and PLCs with all our machines making them more energy efficient.  We implement energy efficient practices and systems which seek to use less energy while conducting any energy-dependent activity and at the same time minimize the corresponding (negative) environmental impacts of energy consumption.

We are in the process of deployment of on grid solar power system which will take us a step forward in using renewable energy.

1 sqm leather produced = 5 units of energy saved from traditional methods.

“Zero discharge slogan” including air, water & chemical is fully operational in the tannery resulting a green & clean environment. Condensate return from the heat generated by the machines is also used to generate steam instead of a separate heating system.

Man Power Saving

Our systems and processes are based on automation and every process is efficiently integrated with the next process so that less workers are required to carry out the task.

This help to attain more satisfaction among workers as people are connected with jobs based more on long term commitment and benefits which helps to better serve the society.

Global Carbon Index

Climate change is one of the world’s most pressing challenges. Human emissions of greenhouse gases – carbon dioxide (CO2), nitrous oxide, methane, and others – have increased global temperatures by around 1℃ since pre-industrial times.

A changing climate has a range of potential ecological, physical and health impacts, including extreme weather events such as floods, droughts, storms, and heat waves, sea-level rise, altered crop growth, and disrupted water systems.

To address these challenges we strive hard to use more renewable energy sources like solar energy to contribute to our power requirements and heat water by using the heat generated by the machines and burning least amount of fuel and gas as possible. We are also working on to getting ECO2L certification as part of our future sustainable goal.
